Media literacy, the ability to understand and use a range of print and digital media in one of the several COMMON CORE English Language Arts STANDARDS and these are skills critical for success in most walks of life. Students will be become more effective communicators and critical viewers when they learn to be cautious consumers and ethical producers of print and digital media.
Because so many resources are available to acquire this knowledge and practice these skills, it is imperative that language arts teachers develop proficiency incorporating twenty-first century literacies into their instruction. On this website you’ll find a wealth of lessons and links to websites to help you design lessons to teach a range of topics and to assess student learning. Some of the lessons are those I’ve designed; some of the links that have been recommended to me. All can be useful to you as you expand your knowledge and increase your own skills as a professional educator up-to-date with best practices. From the Language Arts Resources Tab, search MEDIA ARTS.
