Generating Thesis to Express Emotional Response

Writing – Generate Thesis

Sometimes it is helpful for students to be released to express their emotional responses to literature.  Being objective is tough and writing personally can be a step to writing more objectively.  Anyway, whatever words, phrases, or images the writers choose to use reveals their attitudes toward the topic anyway, so why fool ourselves in thinking it’s really possible to be totally objective about anything.  That’s a topic for a different post.

Link here to a THESIS GENERATOR I adapted from one posted on the English Companion Ning.  Here is a link to an academic language list  you may find helpful to share with your older students;  this emotions chart  is one you may choose to share with younger or older students.  Offering special vocabulary they probably recognize will encourage them to choose and use more sophisticated or precise words that better express their personal responses to the readings, films or digital media you’re assigning.
