Looking for an authentic alternative assessment to determine how well your students understand characterization, the relationships, and motivations in a complex work of fiction? Assign them this Geometric Character Analysis project.
Because the final project is rather small, I created random groups and students moved from group to group to explain their page to their peers. We all learned more about the literary work just listening to and viewing the different ways the students chose colors, size, shapes and arranged them on the page to represent the book we’d read together. A simple rubric is on the assignment sheet.
