Fall MCTE and NCTE Presentations

Professional Development comes in two forms:

**** Presenting workshop sessions during which one shares ones own experiences

**** Attending conferences and conventions to meet, greet, hear and learn from others

This fall, I’ll be able to do both.  First, I’ll giving a workshop at the Michigan Council of Teachers of English Fall Conference in Lansing, Mi.  The theme this year is “Policy, Practice, and Power: Upholding Our Convictions in Demanding Times”.

My interactive workshop is “Using Art to Meet Common Core and ELA Standards.  Book Signing with CORNUCOPIA BOOKS of Michigan.

In November, during Annual Convention of the National Council of Teachers of English, I have two slots on the program.

As part of the Secondary Section’s HIGH SCHOOL MATTERS, I’ll be facilitating a round table on” “DEPARTMENT CHAIRS: Learning and With and From our Teachers”.

And with the Conference on English Leadership, a round-table discussion in the Saturday morning session called,  LEADING WITH PRECISION: USING INFORMATION ABOUT STUDENTS TO FOCUS AND IMPROVE INSTRUCTION ACROSS SUBJECT AREAS: A SESSION FOR DEPARTMENT CHAIRS, LEAD TEACHERS, AND LITERACY COORDINATORS.

My table will be discussimg strategies Department Chairs can use for “Maximizing Meetings and Maintaining Morale”.

Second, I’ll be looking forward to meeting, greeting and learning from you.
